Choose a real project or programme that you know. It can be:

• A project you were involved in before
• A well known project in your community or organisation

Write a short report of about 1000 words in which you answer the questions below.

1. Project overview and needs
   Describe the project. What problem or need is it trying to address (why), for whom and where
   Briefly explain how you think a needs assessment was or should have been done for this project.
2. Monitoring and evaluation in your project
   In your own words, explain:
   • What will “monitoring” focus on in this project
   • What will “evaluation” focus on in this project
     Give at least two examples to distinguish monitoring from evaluation in your project.
3. Baseline Survey
   Explain what a baseline survey would measure in this project and why it is important for your indicators.
