Individual Assignment 6: Instructor-Marked

You are the project manager of a two-year project funded by a major international development agency. The project, “Enhancing Access to Clean Water in Rural Communities”, aimed to improve access to clean water for 10 rural communities in a developing country. The project involved constructing water wells, training community members on maintenance, and conducting hygiene education sessions.

The project is now in its final month. All the wells have been constructed, training and education sessions have been conducted, and the communities are successfully using the wells. The project has been largely successful, with minor deviations from the plan.

Assignment:

As the project manager, your task is to close the project. Write a detailed report covering the following aspects:

  1. Project Completion: Describe how you will ensure all project work is completed and approved. Include any remaining tasks, how you will complete them, and how you will obtain final approval from the stakeholders.
  2. Lessons Learned: Document the lessons learned from this project. Include successes, challenges, and how these lessons can be applied to future projects.
  3. Final Reports: Outline the key elements you will include in your final project report. Discuss how you will present the project’s performance in terms of scope, schedule, cost, and quality.
  4. Contracts Closure: If there were any contracts involved in the project (e.g., with contractors for well construction), describe how you will formally close these contracts.
  5. Team Release: Discuss how you will release the project team, including any recognition or celebration you plan to organize.
  6. Financial Closure: Explain how you will close the project accounts and ensure all financial obligations are met.
  7. Risk Closure: Discuss how you will close any remaining risks or issues related to the project.
  8. Assets Disposal: Describe how you will handle the disposal or reallocation of project assets or equipment.
  9. Project Handover: Explain how you will hand over the project deliverables to the user/client. In this case, discuss how you will ensure the community takes ownership of the wells and the maintenance training.

Your report should be approximately 2000 words. Please provide as much detail as possible to demonstrate your understanding of the project closure phase. Use project management terminology and concepts appropriately.
